2024 Alfa Romeo Tonale Pricing and Release Date

It’s finally official. The Alfa Romeo has begun production on the 2024 Tonale, the brand’s first plug-in hybrid vehicle. The compact SUV will be produced at the Giambattista Vico Stellantis plant in Pomigliano d’Arco, Naples, Italy, with many of these models being destined for U.S. soil.

So, when can you expect to get behind the wheel? Well, you may have to wait just a little bit longer, but the availability of the Tonale in North America is expected to begin in June of this year. As of the time of this writing, there are no Tonale models available to test drive in the United States, but if you contact us at Alfa Romeo of Kirkland, we can be sure to keep you updated on their arrival.

Powertrain Specs

As a plug-in hybrid model, the first thing we should talk about is the powertrain and driving efficiency. Within the belly of the Tonale is a 15.5 kWh lithium-ion battery that powers a 90kW electric motor. This electric system pairs with a gasoline system in the form of a turbocharged power plant that distributes 285 horsepower, the best in its class. The compact SUV also has an AWD system.

Though the Tonale is best experienced when operating the vehicle in hybrid mode, utilizing both the electric and gasoline components of the powertrain, there are not yet fuel efficiency estimates available for the model. That said, the Tonale can operate in an electric-only mode, allowing you to travel without the use of gasoline for up to 30 miles. This is a great option for those with short daily commutes, allowing you to make the drive to work and then charge the vehicle at home overnight.

What Does the Tonale Cost?

Despite a state-of-the-art powertrain, the latest Uconnect infotainment system, driving assistance systems and premium Italian styling, the 2024 Alma Romeo Tonale is actually reasonably priced.

The lineup begins with the Tonale Spring trim level at an MSRP of $42,995. Additional options are the Tonale TI and Tonale Volce, priced at an MSRP of $44,995 and $47,495, respectively. Keep in mind, however, that if you choose to lease your Tonale, you can also take advantage of a $7,500 federal EV tax credit, helping to make this plug-in hybrid even more affordable.
